Ullman Sails Double-Handed Series

Ullman Sails South Africa sponsored the Double-Handed Series at the Royal Cape Yacht Club this year. A series that continues to grow in popularity.

This year, 35 boats participated across two classes, making it one of the most vibrant and competitive seasons yet.

Of the five scheduled races, two were cancelled due to strong winds, but the remaining events were sailed in truly spectacular Cape conditions, offering memorable racing for every team involved.

For us, one of the highlights of the Double-Handed Series is not only the racing, but the camaraderie that follows it. After each event, the entire fleet gathers around a long table on the RCYC deck, a tradition unique to this format and one we are delighted to see continue year after year.

It’s the only style of racing where every competitor can sit together, sharing pizza, wine, stories, laughter, and lessons from the day. Over time, this ritual has created a close-knit community of sailors whose spirit and warmth extend far beyond the racecourse and into events like the SSSA races. We’re honoured to be a part of something that brings people together in such a meaningful way.

Our fifth and final race of the series, scheduled for 22 November, was unfortunately cancelled due to strong winds. Despite the conditions, whitecaps tearing across Table Bay and a gale roaring through the rigging, the Double-Handers still gathered as they always do, celebrating the end of another wonderful season.

Congratulations to all competitors, we couldn't be happier to have been a part of this series.
