Ullman sails south Africa
2025 Mirror World Championship
The 2025 Mirror World Championship took place from April 14 to 19 in Durban, South Africa, hosted by Point Yacht Club. The event brought together top Mirror sailors from around the world, with 33 boats on the startline and many supporters and volunteers contributing to an exciting regatta week.

Racing Highlights
Held off Vetch’s Pier, Durban Beach Club the championship delivered a full mix of sailing conditions. The first day kicked off with heavy winds of 25–30 knots, giving teams a fast and technical start to the event. Conditions later died down, with lighter breeze and sizeable swells by the final day. Race Officer Kevin Bingham managed to run 10 races over six days, ensuring a challenging championship.

Ullman Sails highlights
Thomas & Kai Funke, finishing 3rd overall, first South African team. With Kai only being 9 years old. This father-son duo were powered by a full Ullman Sails suite, which proved itself across conditions.
Another standout South African pairing, Howard Leoto & Hayden Miller, made an immediate impact on Day 1, finishing 2nd in the first race—an impressive achievement in the heavy wind conditions that challenged even the most experienced teams. They continued to show strong form throughout the week, sailing with confidence and precision. Like the Funke team, they were also equipped with a full Ullman Sails inventory.
Joining them in the Ullman-suited group were Grant Ekermans & Luke Liebrecht, who also had moments of solid performance during the series, reinforcing the sails’ competitiveness in this fleet.
