Kanto Tradition Race

Between April and November, the yacht clubs along the coast of the Kanto Region host one of the most respected offshore racing series in Japan, the Kanto Tradition Race. It is the oldest and largest offshore race series in the country, consisting of four challenging offshore races. The award ceremony was held on December 3rd, celebrating another strong year of competition.

One of the standout performances came from our Ullman Sails Japan customer “Zipang” (Tsuboi 1030), who delivered an exceptional result in the 70th Mikomoto Island Race, a 99 nautical mile offshore race. Zipang finished:

  • 1st Overall, IRC

  • 1st, IRC B

  • 1st Overall, ORC

Across the full Kanto Tradition Race series, the team also secured:

  • 3rd Overall, IRC

  • 3rd Overall, ORC

What makes this result even more meaningful is the story behind it. Five years ago, the owner of Zipang was diagnosed with cancer. Since then, he has continued to pursue his passion for sailing with incredible determination, believing that time on the water is the most effective treatment. Today, he continues to sail energetically and competes at a high level.

Stories like this remind us why we sail and why we do what we do. Congratulations to the entire Zipang team and Ullman Sails Japan on an inspiring season.
