Fowey River dinghies Season kicked off

Ahead of the 2025 season, Ullman Sails United Kingdom provided a welcome boost to the fleet by crafting a number of new sails for Fowey River Dinghies. These fresh, colorful sails for the beautiful backdrop and conditions of the Fowey River, have already made their presence felt on the water—adding some new competitiveness to this year’s Spring Series.

The 2025 Spring Series officially got underway on Wednesday, 9 April, launching what promises to be a closely contested sailing season. Races are held bi-weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, offering regular opportunities for both seasoned sailors and newer crews to sail.

April brought six completed races, each contributing to a growing sense of momentum and excitement. The fleet showed strong early-season enthusiasm, with up to 11 boats on the start line—an encouraging turnout that bodes well for participation in the months ahead.

Conditions throughout the month were diverse and tested the versatility of the sailors. Light evening breezes during midweek races, while weekends delivered punchier gusts.

Several boats have already emerged as early front-runners, we’d like to believe in some cases, the advantage of brand-new sails helped. However, it comes down to the sailors and the range of experience. That said, the series remains wide open, with the standings closely packed and plenty of racing still to come in May and beyond.

The Fowey River Dinghy fleet continues to be quite prominent. With the scenic waters of Fowey Harbour as the backdrop, the 2025 Spring Series is off to a flying start.

As the season progresses, sailors and spectators alike can look forward to more exhilarating races, with shifting tactics, and perhaps a few surprises as the race for the Spring Series title heats up.
